We are a New England fitness equipment dealer based in Manchester, New Hampshire. We supply home gyms, commercial facilities, hotels, schools and physical therapy clinics across New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island and Connecticut — and we service every brand we sell.
Because we both sell and service the equipment, the advice you get is not shaped by what happens to be in stock. If a machine is wrong for your space, your traffic or your budget, we will say so.
Tell us the room, the traffic and the budget and we will tell you what actually fits — including when the honest answer is that you do not need to spend as much as you think. Call, email, or request a quote and we will come back to you.
In practice the terms are used for the same machine: a rotating set of steps you climb continuously. StairMaster’s own range covers the StepMill, the Gauntlet and the free climber, which differ in step size, console and whether the steps are open or enclosed.
More than a treadmill. A user climbing on a stepmill stands higher than they do on a treadmill deck, and the machine itself is tall. Measure to the ceiling — not to a light fitting — before you commit, because this is the most common reason a stepmill cannot go where the buyer intended.
Yes, for most people. Climbing loads the legs against gravity with no belt carrying you forward, so the same perceived effort produces a higher heart rate. That is why stepmills are among the busiest machines on a commercial cardio floor, and among the ones members complain about most.
Daily checks of the steps and handrails, weekly cleaning of the step chain and guides, and an annual service of the drive and the brake. Step chains and bearings are the wear items. We service every brand we sell, so this is a scheduled visit rather than something you have to arrange separately.
The Gauntlet is built around the same climbing motion as the StepMill with a different step and console configuration. If upper-body work is the goal, an upper-body ergometer is the right machine rather than a stepmill.
The step chain and guides first, then the brake, then the console. Step chains stretch and guides wear, and both are replaceable — but a machine that has run without service will need them. Ask what has been replaced, and when.
Fewer than treadmills, but rarely just one. Stepmills are high-demand and high-wear, so a single unit becomes a queue and a single point of failure. Watch how often the machine is in use at peak before you decide on the number, rather than working from a ratio.
Plan the electrical supply before delivery. Commercial stepmills are mains-powered and are usually specified on their own circuit; the exact requirement depends on the model. Tell us the model and the room and we will confirm what the install needs.
The usual industry figure for commercial cardio equipment is 7 to 12 years with proper maintenance. In practice the number is set by the service history and the traffic, not by the badge on the frame — a serviced machine outlasts a neglected one every time.
